Guy Ritchie’s The Gentlemen series returns explosively, expanding the world beyond the British countryside, London, the Hornimans and the Glass Families, to Italy and the Italian Mafia.

I was initially skeptical when I heard of this expansion but I am more than pleased to say that the shift absolutely works. Eddies character development from Aristocrat to hungry, ambitious wannabe mob boss is a welcome one and he really comes into his own this season.

Kaya Scodelario is fantastic once again and Suzie, offering subtle hints of emotion that seep through her marble exterior and really hit home as a viewer. Vinnie Jones however is the highlight for me, I absolutely adore him as Geoff and can’t get enough of him on screen.

The series builds itself really well, the world building and character development Ritchie has created during these 8 episodes is really impressive, levelling up as the series progresses. A brilliant mixture of suave, gangster, shock and emotion that is so hard to balance during a gangster series. You find yourself rooting for the Eddie through his development even though you shouldn’t.

The series leaves itself in a great position to expand and develop further and I’m excited to see where it takes us next.
