As a huge DC fan, I was super excited for Clayface but was also very skeptical…

Villain origin story movies can be very hit and miss. Films like The Joker are brilliant but the Venom series and the other Sony/Marvel villain origins are not the greatest. However, this set a bar so much more higher than the others so far.

The overall story of Clayface is one of mixed emotions and conflicting thoughts. At times, I felt bad for Matt Hagen, but at others, I thought he was a real dirtbag.

I think Tom Rhys Harries did a fantastic job at portraying this and I also really loved Naomi Ackie’s performance in the film. Some of the dialogue was a bit slow but overall I thought they did a stellar job with the dialogue they were given.

The body horror in this movie is incredible too. There were genuinely times where I struggled to watch what was happening and the tension is real. The two main times Ic can think of during a hospital scene and on the plane.

Overall, I have rated this movie as a 4 out of 5 stars. This movie is everything I would have wanted. However, I do wonder how this will tie in to the greater DC universe it is tied into.
