Funny and heartfelt can summarise how enjoyable it is to watch this beautiful movie when it truly is in the hands of true cinema enthusiasts.

Enthusiasts who go the lengths at showing their passion by inspiring the younger generation watching to explore more of the medium. Could be through the tiniest of inclusions, in this case with references to other movies and tv shows. The introduction of this film in particular is them stuffing us full of traditional horror elements to set the tone and remind us how a film targeted towards an audience not commonly associated with the genre can be crafted. One reference I won’t say made me laugh out loud in my disappointedly near empty cinema.

It’s hard to create an animated movie of this calibre in today’s age with the rise of AI technology and our attention span being casually and dangerously reduced. But Aardman throw this almost complete silent movie into a pot of their typical brilliance and show off what can be done with the right direction.

And for those who are half-tempted they might feel a tad out of place going to watch this, the humour has moments you’d be the only one to understand in consideration to the target audience in mind. So go ahead, watch this film when it comes out next week, you won’t regret it.
